GREAT WEEKEND FOR MARYGROVE ATHLETICS!
This past weekend was as good as it gets for three of Marygrove’s teams. On Friday (09/21), the women’s volleyball team triumphed over Ohio State-Marion in straight sets. Senior Shana Tooley (Belleville, Mich./Belleville) had 14 digs, while fellow Belleville native and senior Megan Gohl (Belleville, Mich./Belleville) captained the offense with 37 assists. Saturday (09/22) marked a doubleheader of soccer action that began with the women hosting NCAA Division II Ursuline College (Ohio). A brilliant performance by sophomore Kaitlyn Vigna (China Twp., Mich./Marine City) propelled the Mustangs to a 2-1 win against their NCAA DII counterpart. Vigna totaled three points to help the Mustangs become the first team to get a victory over a NCAA DII school in the history of Marygrove College Athletics. Saturday was capped off with men’s soccer victory in their WHAC opener vs. Lawrence Tech (Mich.). The Mustangs used Jordan Berry (Dearborn, Mich.) and Abdoullie Jallow (Bansang, The Gambia/Rust) goals to earn a 2-1 conference win. Continue reading
