“Celebrating Neighborhood Creatives” Story Telling Workshops

Shakoor“Celebrating Neighborhood Creatives” Story Telling Workshops

This Saturday morning—April 30 from 10 AM until noon—Satori Shakoor, storyteller extraordinaire and Executive Director of the Society for the Re-Institutionalization of Story Telling, will begin the workshops to capture and polish community stories about Northwest Detroit’s arts-supporting history, personal impact, and vision.

There will be three workshops you’ll be expected to attend that will result in performances on September 22 and 23, 2016, as part of the culminating events and unveiling of the Charles McGee Community Commons.  The next two workshops are on Saturday, May 7 and Saturday, May 21, also from 10 AM until noon.  We meet on Marygrove’s campus in LA241.

You’ll be joining 10 other interested participants, some of whom have decided to work together on a story.   This Saturday you’ll learn the basics of the craft of telling compelling stories.  For further information, contact Kay Johnson, 1-313-927-1538, or Robert Tompkins, 1-313-927-1650.
