The SASHA Center — Sexual Assault Services for Holistic Healing — and the Marygrove College Women’s Center invite the public to attend a reflective evening to educate, inspire and support survivors/victims/all persons affected by dating and domestic violence.
Join us on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 6-8pm at Marygrove College in the Main Dining Hall of the Madame Cadillac Building to hear a panel of young advocates discuss intimate partner violence.
Providing opportunities for community members, students, staff, faculty and local organizations to get together and discuss intimate partner violence, the SASHA Center invites the public to join the conversation during the Domestic Violence Awareness Month, raising awareness of the impact that relationship violence has in our communities. Because research shows that non-battering men can be instrumental in stopping intimate partner violence by sharing their stories of being non-violent in their own relationships, this event aims to dispel myths and provide a forum with honest dialogue among ourselves–with men leading the way.
Join special guests from the sports and entertainment industries as well as local agencies that work with victims/survivors. The event will also feature performances by Omari King Wise and Kahn Davison, two internationally known Spoken Word Artists.
Organizations interested in hosting a free display table call 313-214-2083. Space is limited and we give priority to Domestic Violence and/or Sexual Assault agencies. (No vending allowed. Available tables are “information only.”)
There will be a Purple Ribbon Campaign and The Clothesline Project will be on display at the event, honoring those lives that have been impacted by dating and domestic violence.
This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
