employee recognition ceremonyYou are invited to the Employee Recognition Day Ceremony which will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 3:30 p.m.  in Alumnae Hall to celebrate our employees.  We will present awards for scholarship, service and teaching to three faculty members.  Three staff members will receive the 3 C’s Awards:  Innovation, Service and Advocacy, and we will recognize employees for their years of service to the College.

Recap of Michael Owen in Detroit

MO2On April 8 and 9, Michael Owen reached out to over 160 students and teachers from ML King HS, Renaissance HS, Hamtramck HS, Berkley HS, Nataki Talibah Schoolhouse Detroit and Marygrove College through individual workshops and a “TEDtalk” presentation where he discussed his work and his “Artist as Activist.” Students and teachers were also given a tour of the Marygrove Undergraduate Student Exhibit in the Marygrove Gallery.

 

The Department of Dance to Present an Informal Showing

balletPlease join the department of dance for an informal performance by the Dance Composition II students.  These dance majors will be showing their final projects for the advanced composition course under the direction of assistant professor, Tracy Halloran Pearson, in preparation for Senior Seminar in the fall.   We would love to have an audience present to support their efforts.

As an added treat, the Eclectic Urban Dance Company (the student organization of the dance department) will be performing a piece choreographed by dance major, Michael Springer.

Friday, May 2 @ 11:00 a.m. in the Marygrove College Theatre.  The entire program is approximately 1 hour.  If you can’t make it for the whole showing, feel free to come and go as you please at any time during the performance.  There is no charge for admission and all are welcome.
