In conjunction with the Marygrove College strategic vision of Urban Leadership and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Institute of Music & Dance welcomes New York dancer/choreographer Kristin Sudeikis to the college campus Wednesday and Thursday, October 23 & 24, 2013.
Ms. Sudeikis teaches internationally and directs her own company. She personifies the “artist as activist” as she also conducts movement workshops and fundraisers (most notably for GEMS) for girls and women who have been affected by sexual violence.
Ms. Sudeikis will teach an outreach class at Renaissance High School and, on campus, she will teach students from Arts in the Woods Academy and MLKing High School. Marygrove College undergraduate dance students will also experience Ms. Sudeikis’ artistry by attending a master class.
Directing her attention to Domestic Violence Awareness, on Wednesday evening, October 23, she will conduct a movement and discussion class for young women from SASHA Center, Interim House and Alternatives for Girls.
Dance is not only a passion where one can feel transported in performance … it is a pathway to assist in healing.
We are very excited to have Kristin Sudeikis share both concepts with our community. Please stop by her website: http://www.kristinsudeikis.com/
