Attention students: Check your email for NSSE updates!

nessieAgain this year, Marygrove is asking a number of freshmen and seniors to take part in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) (pronounced “Nessie” like the monster). NSSE gets information from hundreds of colleges and universities nationwide about student participation in programs and activities that institutions provide for their learning and personal development. More than 1300 different colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada have participated in NSSE since it was first administered in 2000.  The survey is run by the Center for Survey Research at Indiana University.

NSSE measures five aspects of student engagement:

•             Level of Academic Challenge
•             Active and Collaborative Learning
•             Student-Faculty Interaction
•             Enriching Educational Experiences
•             Supportive Campus Environment

The students who are being asked to participate will receive emails from Marygrove’s president, Dr. David Fike, on February 5 and will receive a series of reminders until March 12. The email will include a link to the online survey.

ONLY THOSE STUDENTS WHO RECEIVE THE EMAIL CAN PARTICIPATE, though.

Freshman and seniors will receive an email from Dr. Fike according to this schedule:

Reminder 1: scheduled on February 13, 2012

Reminder 2: scheduled on February 21, 2012
