This past weekend, Marygrove Institute for Music and Dance (IMD) students joined forces with students from Pointe Academy Dance Center, Rochester Hills (Director and Marygrove Alumna, MaryBeth Tremp Seeger and Judith Molina, Director, IMD, teach at the studio) and Marygrove undergraduate Dance Department students to perform and support two organizations: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit and Focus Hope. Diamond White, born January 1, 1999, was just six years old when she started drama, dance and voice lessons at the Institute of Music & Dance at Marygrove College in Detroit, MI. Institute of Music and Dance (IMD) Summer Theater Intensive students will be performing at Jazz on the Avenue on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 4:00 p.m.
At IMD they not only learn skills in the arts but to share their talent with the community thereby becoming urban leaders!

The IMD Adventures in Art Exhibit can be seen in The Gallery on the fourth floor of the Liberal Arts Building. The theme is the Year of the Dragon.
Students studied and researched the Chinese New Year and all about dragons and their significance in the culture. They will be performing a dragon dance (complete with dragon!).
Sandi Combs is the IMD Art Faculty member who creatively led the class.

Marygrove College’s Institute of Music & Dance begins its summer programming on Monday, July 9, 2012!
Classes are held Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Arts enrichment classes are for students ages 3 – 16.
Classes conclude Friday, July 27 with the exception of theater performances on Monday, July 30.
Marygrove’s 33 piece, Institute for Music and Dance (IMD) String Ensemble will perform in the Marygrove College Theatre tonight, May 30, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. under the direction of IMD music faculty member Anida Margariti.
A Mozart Violin Concerto and a J.S. Bach Concerto for Two Violins are on the program, as well as music of Scott Joplin and Rossini.
