The Study Abroad Committee invites faculty/staff to submit proposals for the 2014 Travel Seminar and Spring/Summer Intensive Programs.
Both the Travel Seminar Program and the Spring/Summer Intensive Program are short-term, study abroad programs led by Marygrove College faculty.
Each program is comprised of overseas travel in conjunction with a course that covers material specific to the intended overseas destination. Courses for both programs are taken during the winter or spring/summer semester. Students participating in a Travel Seminar go abroad with the faculty program leader for a maximum of 10 days during Spring Break.
Participants leave as a group the Thursday evening or Friday prior to Spring Break and return before the start of classes. Students participating in a Spring/Summer Intensive Program travel abroad with the faculty leader in May, July or August following the end of the winter or summer semester. Travel may not occur over the scheduled graduation date. This program can involve a maximum of 3 weeks of overseas travel. It allows Marygrove to offer faculty-led programs to more distant destinations, or programs that focus more intensely on a particular area.
The Committee strongly encourages proposals for new destinations and from faculty who have not yet led a program. In order to be considered, the faculty member submitting the proposal must give a brief 10-minute presentation to the Study Abroad Committee and be prepared to answer questions afterward.
