Fundraiser to repair water system for a small health clinic in Ghana

Dear Marygrove community,

Please consider supporting a fundraiser on Dec. 1 to support a small health clinic in Ghana repair their water system. The event is being sponsored by two on-campus student associations:  the Alpha Kappa Alphas and the Health Science Student Association.

One of the students went on a Marygrove trip to Ghana this past year and was moved by the conditions in a health clinic they visited.  This clinic has a small, overworked staff that serves the entire region with basic health services.  Their water system has broken down so they are currently collecting rain water as their major source of water.  The HSSA and the AKAs would like to have a fundraising event to raise $5000 to repair their water system.  If we manage to raise more money than that, we can even upgrade and build a well for them!

The main event will be a wine-tasting held at Marygrove College on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 7-10 p.m.  Tickets are $40 each and are tax-deductible.  We are also looking for any donations of goods or services for the silent auction that will be held during the fundraiser, or any financial contributions towards the cause, which would also all be tax-deductible.

We are proud of our students and the impressive effort they are putting out to help others. Please consider supporting us and inviting your friends and family as well!   And come join us on Dec. 1–it would be great to see you there!  The students are planning to have art and music and some informational presentations in addition to wine and hors-d’oeuvres.
