The next event in our Lunchtime Conversation Series is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 28, from noon – 1:15 p.m. in the Employee Lounge in the basement of the Liberal Arts Building. The topic will be, “The Idolatry of Information in a Mediated Age.”
During the discussion, Professor George Alcser will help us to interrogate the manifold roles of information in the contemporary world. What does it mean to be informed? Are “data” simply the reifications of presumed understandings? Is DNA ”merely” the physical codification of information? These and other fascinating questions will serve as the beginnings of our conversation.
